This book charts my path of personal and artistic discovery. Beginning when I first studied portraiture, then tracing my experimentations to question these conventions of depiction. The journey led to the creation of the body of work represented in this book and Emerging Features. Through a series of stories and original prints, you will encounter the important influences in my life, including my family who become my subjects. Lithography, engraving, Chinese woodblock, papermaking and casting though unfamiliar to me before embarking, helped me come to a new artistic understanding. Simultaneously, experimentation through the artistic process leads to new insights about my portrait subjects, myself and my relationships.
